Edgar Acevedo
EDGAR ACEVEDO
PRODUCING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR – DIRECTOR

is the founder of CCYT. He holds a B.S. in musical theatre [from SUNY Fredonia] and an M.A. in elementary education [from The College at Saint Rose]. During his tenure as a New York State certified teacher, he collaborated for three years with the Bill T. Jones Arnie Zane Dance Company (Education) to develop a program that integrated dance into the classroom (grades 3 – 5), and taught numerous professional development classes for teachers in active learning. Under the auspices of CCYT, he developed and currently produces the Theatre Arts Programs at the Hudson City School District Intermediate School, the Summer Funshop musical theatre program, and CCYT’s Performance Company. For the past thirty years, Edgar has directed and produced CCYT’s Musical Theatre Workshop.

JAMIE FAXON-BAKSA
CHOREOGRAPHER

is a co-owner, with her mother, of the Faxon School of Dance. Her theater credits include the Performing Arts Center at RPI, the Mac-Haydn Theatre and the Theatre Barn.  Besides choreographing the annual Chatham High School musical, Jamie has also choreographed productions at the Brittonkill and East Greenbush schools. When not involved in dance she is involved with children in her capacity as a school nurse in the Brittonkill School District.

DANIELLE DELAMATER
ASSOCIATE PRODUCER & DIRECTOR

has been directing and choreographing with CCYT since 2012. She has also helped to develop the summer workshop’s Enrichment Program. A new graduate, she plans to continue with CCYT in giving children an opportunity to learn and train, not just as actors, but also in the areas of technical theatre. Danielle holds a BA in Performing Arts Theatre with a minor in Arts Management from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

CASSIDY FLANAGAN
PRODUCTION COORDINATOR & STAGE MANAGER

has been with the Workshop since third grade, where her first show was The Emperor’s New Clothes. She was also an original member of the Columbia County Youth Theatre Program and in 2013, she transitioned from actor to staff member. Cassidy attended the Muriel Scott Faxon School of Dance and was very active in her school’s drama and music programs from grade 4 through high school. She is currently studying at Saint Michael’s College in Vermont, with a double major in Elementary Education and Psychology. While at college she remains active in the arts as a member of the Saint Mike’s Chorale.

WILLIAM SOHMER
SCENIC DESIGNER

is the backdrop designer and painter for the musicals we perform at the Columbia County Fairgrounds. Bill has worked as designer and scenic artist for Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional theatre, feature film, and TV. He has been the supervising scenic artist at the Santa Fe Opera and after 25 years, recently retired as assistant charge scenic artist at the Metropolitan Opera in N.Y.  For the past eleven years, Bill’s most rewarding work has been creating scenery for the kids.

DEVIN OVERINGTON
IT DIRECTOR & TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

has been running sound and other technical aspects of theater with the Germantown Central School Drama Club and Upstage Productions since he was twelve years old. This summer will be his seventh year with CCYT as their IT and Technical Director. Outside of the theater, Devin is pursuing his Master’s degree at Marist College where he is majoring in Information Technology.

NADINE GABRIEL
COSTUME DESIGNER

Nadine brings her passion for working with Kids and her creativity to CCYT for the fourth year. As the former owner of JUMP! Indoor Children’s Play Center she created and designed countless costumes for children’s themed birthday parties and events.  In the past, Nadine has also designed & created numerous costumes for various organizations, local Schools & Upstage Productions.

EILEEN MALOY
FUNSHOP DIRECTOR & MCSIS PROGRAM COORDINATOR

“Miz M” has directed the Funshop summer program since 2013 after retiring from a career of teaching dance and directing a preschool. In addition to Funshop, Eileen continues to work with children as the Montgomery C. Smith Intermediate School Drama Club director in Hudson, NY.

MICHAYLA MCMAHON
MARKETING AND ADVERTISING

Michayla graduated from The College of Saint Rose in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in PR/Advertising and a minor in Film & New Media, and also has a two year degree in Television Production from Hudson Valley Community College.  She currently works for the New York State Assembly in the New Media department, as well as doing side work for CCYT.  Michayla participated in the Workshop with Edgar as a child, and later returned to CCYT to help with Marketing and Advertising.

ANDREW STEIN
MUSICAL DIRECTOR

is a new addition to the CCYT family but no stranger to performance and musical direction. He graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a B.S. in Jazz Studies and Vocal Performance, and while there, musically directed a swath of student-run productions including greats such as Into the Woods and Urinetown! Since moving to Hudson in 2016 Andrew has developed a strong role in the local theater community, musically directing cabarets, community theater and high school productions. He is thrilled to bring his experience to the CCYT Summer Workshop.

JAN ERIC DOUGLAS
SINGING INSTRUCTOR

has taught singing and musical theater classes at The Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute since 1988. He has also held positions on the faculties of Teachers College of Columbia University, New York University, Hunter College and currently Long Island University. Jan earned the degree Doctor of Music from Florida State University. He maintains a private studio in NYC and his students have appeared on Broadway, at the Metropolitan Opera and musical theater productions throughout America. In 1999, Jan was elected to membership in The American Academy of Teachers of Singing and served for six years as its chair. He has articles published in the Journal of Singing and has presented at the NATS national conventions and workshops.

BILLIE JO ALLEN
FUNSHOP DIRECTOR & ASSISTANT TO THE COSTUMER

joined CCYT in 2014, but is no stranger to theater.  She has three daughters who have been part of Workshop for six years.  As a pre-school teacher for 11 years, Billie Jo firmly believes in teaching through fun activities that build confidence and an eagerness to learn!

EDDIE KNIGHT
CLASS 2 DIRECTOR

has been with the Workshop for 15 years. His first 10 years was as a participant. He joined the CCYT staff 5 years ago and has worked as a director’s assistant, and more recently as a director with the summer program and choreographer with CCYT’s Hudson City School District drama program. A native of Chatham, NY, Ed earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Russell Sage College, where he studied Musical Theater. Ed’s stage credits include work with the CCYT Performance Company, The Mac-Haydn Theater, and The Theater Institute at Sage, Dorset Theater Festival, and New York Musical Festival.

CASSIE PEARSON
CLASS 1 DIRECTOR & CHOREOGRAPHER

will be spending her fifth summer working for CCYT. She has always been actively involved in the arts, both singing and playing the flute, and grew up performing on the Chatham Central School District stages. Outside of school she participated in CCYT productions, acted at the Mac-Haydn Theater, and danced for 14 years with the Muriel Scott Faxon School of Dance. Cassie will be entering her junior year at Boston College where she is an officer for the University Chorale. She studies communication, music, and leadership.

MEGAN FABIANO
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR & ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR

is a junior majoring in General Psychology and double minoring in Education and Performing Arts at Bay Path University in Longmeadow Massachusetts. This is her third summer with CCYT. Megan has an overwhelming passion for educating the youth about the performing arts and aspires to be a director in a drama therapy setting. Not only does she assist with direction, she is also an active performer and actress. With 12 years of choir and dance, and 6 years of acting experience, Megan has dedicated her life to performing and is ecstatic to help spread the love of the arts to younger generations.

OLIVIA ALLEN
DIRECTOR’S ASSISTANT & PROPS COORDINATOR

Olivia is a sophomore majoring in elementary education at the College of Saint Rose. She has been a part of workshop for eight years. For the first 7 Years she was a participant and now has moved on to be a directors assistant. Olivia graduated from Albany Academy for Girls where she participated in dance and theater. She is excited to return to CCYT for another great summer.

MARCUS MCGREGOR
ENRICHMENT DANCE INSTRUCTOR

studied ballet at the Hartford School of Ballet, and Dance Theatre of Harlem. He was a member of Dance Theatre of Harlem and Feld Ballet New York. He has taught dance at various school districts and currently teaches Ballet at Creative Studios in Coxsackie and at Hudson Valley Academy of Performing Arts in West Taghkanic. Marcus also teaches Pilates and personal fitness at Re-center Pilates in Albany. A certified Pilate’s instructor, Marcus received his certification in Fitness from the American College of Sports Medicine.
